The story follows a young woman who becomes a landscape gardener to fulfill her father's wishes. Wakaba, who was born and raised in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, lived happily with her parents and younger brother until the Great Hanshin Earthquake devastated the city in 1995. In the disaster, Wakaba loses her father, an architect, and relocates with her mother and brother to Obi, an ancient castle town in Nichinan, Miyazaki Prefecture, where her grandmother resides with her uncle and aunt. Surrounded by Obi's rich natural environment, Wakaba discovers that plants can heal people's hearts. She resolves to return to Kobe and rebuild the city, restoring its greenery.
