TAU SING SUET (Yeung Yi), the daughter of the chief smuggler, sympathizes with YUEN and offers him shelter in the village. Eventually, they grow fond of each other. During an anti-smuggling operation, SUET is severely injured and becomes separated from YUEN and her family. Fortunately, she is rescued by WU TING HIN (Wong Ho Yin), the son of salt merchant WU KIN (Kwok Fung). HIN takes her home. One day, SUET is horrified to see her parents' dead bodies hanging on the wall of the city tower, and the official standing atop the tower, warning the public against selling smuggled salt, is none other than the man she longs for day and night. Heartbroken, her love for YUEN transforms into hatred from that moment on...
