7.6TMDBNello Tarth is a poor but happy orphan living with his grandfather Jehan in a small village near Antwerp. Nello has a talent for drawing and has been fascinated by it since he saw one of Rubens' paintings as a child. While helping Jehan with the daily milk deliveries to Antwerp, Nello discovers Patrash, a working dog who has been mistreated and abandoned by his previous owner. He cares for the exhausted animal, and soon a close and loyal friendship develops. Alois Cojez, the daughter of the wealthiest and most influential man in Blacken Village, is Nello's best friend. When Nello decides to become an artist, he must face the ignorance and cruelty of the villagers firsthand. Especially Alois's father views him as a slacker who cannot make a living by drawing. Nevertheless, Nello perseveres and never gives up on his dream, striving to earn their appreciation and respect while battling his poverty.
