Deadwood tells the story of the early days of South Dakota; most of the main characters are based on real people and historical events. Deadwood begins as a gold mining camp and gradually transforms from a lawless Wild West community into an organized, civilized Wild West town. The story focuses on real-life characters Seth Bullock and Al Swearengen.
