In the 22nd Century, science and technology advanced beyond ethical limits, prompting most of humanity to reverse course. Eventually, global dictatorships violated the United Nations' Bioethics Treaty, secretly stockpiling weapons. As a result, an unsuspecting America was attacked. Retaliation with enhanced nuclear weaponry had unforeseen consequences, affecting most survivors in the Western Hemisphere and altering the rest. Those infected became ravenous beasts, preying on the remaining population. Yet, pockets of humanity endure.
