The plot revolves around Cristina Bazán, a young woman who grew up in a boarding school with her sister Âmbar, an evil and envious woman. Cristina believes that her mother is a successful and busy woman; however, she does not know that in the past, her mother was forced to abandon her after going to prison. Âmbar is Rodolfo's fiancée, but she cheats on him with her best friend Miguel Ângelo, a doctor. Submissive to her sister and stepmother, Cristina is silently in love with Rodolfo, who gradually begins to see her in the same light, while she is constantly mistreated by her sister and stepmother Rosaura.
