Young and successful lawyer "Hayes/Carter Morrison" (Hayley Atwell), who is also the daughter of a former U.S. president, is chosen to lead the Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) established in Los Angeles to re-examine the cases of wrongfully convicted criminals. She and her team investigate suspicious cases they believe to be wrongful convictions, collaborating with lawyers, detectives, and forensic experts.
