China Smith was a 1950s television adventure series starring Dan Duryea. The show is set in Singapore, and many of the cast and crew also worked on the film World for Ransom, which is seen as an extension of the series. Director Robert Aldrich also directed two episodes of the show. The title character is a soldier of fortune in a white suit living in Singapore, facing danger and excitement every week. The series was produced with a two-year gap; the first 26 episodes were filmed in Mexico, while the second 26 episodes were shot in 1954-1955. In 1959, Daffy Duck portrayed China Jones, a parody of Duryea's character.
