Camila Flores is a sweet young woman who lost her parents at a very young age. Her upbringing was overseen by her grandfather Genaro, a dedicated but impoverished rooster breeder. Genaro's greatest fear is that Camila will one day leave him and that she won't find happiness. One day, Camila meets lawyer Miguel Gutiérrez, who has come from the capital, and he is immediately taken by her beauty. He asks for her grandfather's permission to visit her. Genaro believes that Miguel will soon forget about his granddaughter, so he allows Miguel to see her. Before long, Camila and Miguel fall in love, prompting him to ask for her hand in marriage. Despite his reluctance, Genaro permits Camila to marry.
