Black Sails is a television series created by Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine for Starz. On July 26, 2013, Starz gave a ten-episode second season order. Set 20 years before Louis Stevenson’s novel Treasure Island, Black Sails tells the story of Captain Flint and the troubles brought upon him by John Silver, who has recently joined his crew during the golden age of piracy. Robert Lloyd from the Los Angeles Times described the series as "Black Sails is a pirate treasure. Starz's new show realistically depicts the daily life of pirates." The series is filmed at Cape Town Film Studios in South Africa. Hundreds of workers have spent hours working on the details added to just one ship.
