This story, seemingly uninteresting at first glance, has caught the attention of Japanese photojournalist Makoto Shinjou, who sets out for the airbase known as Area 88. Upon arriving at the base, he questions what a Japanese pilot is doing there but receives little response. Thanks to the strange magnetic pull between him and Shin Kazama, Makoto decides to stay at the base and tries to learn the intriguing story he believes this Japanese man has. Although he is already aware of everything that is happening, Shin's gaze has an oddly profound effect on Makoto, perhaps even leading him to reconsider his mission. * This is a remake of the 1985 OAV Area 88.
