In the 1950s, Lurdinha and Marcos fall in love at first sight. She studies at the Institute of Education, while he attends the Military College. Both are traditional educational institutions located in 'Tijuca', in the North Zone of 'Rio de Janeiro'. However, Lurdinha's conservative parents disapprove of Marcos because he comes from a broken family and do everything they can to keep him away from her.
