Catherine Bach plays Margo Wells Dutton, 37, a graduate of McGill University in Montreal and now a widowed businesswoman. Trained as a structural engineer, she takes the reins of a multinational corporation, Canoco, for her father-in-law, Marcus Dutton (Robert Mitchum). While in Africa, they communicate through satellite-linked computers. Her 16-year-old son, Rory (Simon James), attends classes via computer, works on the ranch, and takes care of the household at Victoria Lodge.
