The Time Hero Trilogy of Zelda

Throughout the Legend of Zelda series, we encounter many versions of Link. One of the most iconic is the Time Hero we see in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. This hero faced great challenges while saving Hyrule from one of the best versions of Ganondorf, before being followed by the Twilight Hero in Twilight Princess. The Time Hero is the first character to carry the classic Link appearance in a 3D environment, which is a challenging achievement in itself.

However, it is often forgotten that the Time Hero truly has a trilogy. Indeed, his adventures take place across three of the greatest Legend of Zelda games of all time, making it a legendary trilogy. While the first two games are quite well-known, the third and final appearance is discussed less. However, those who follow this adventure to the end will experience a heart-wrenching but ultimately highly satisfying journey.

Zelda fans or anyone who has seen the Ocarina of Time remake knows the Time Hero's early adventures. This journey begins with Ocarina of Time, where Link defeats Ganondorf, and then he tries to prevent a nightmare moon from destroying Termina in Majora's Mask. These classic N64 games laid the foundations for modern Zelda and continue to be beloved despite their old mechanics.

The story of the Time Hero continues in one more game after Majora's Mask. After finishing his tasks, the Time Hero dies and years later returns as the Hero's Shade during the events of Twilight Princess. This shows that the Time Hero has indeed achieved a true trilogy. However, this third game presents the Time Hero's most interesting and perhaps most mature story.

The story of the Time Hero begins with his extraordinary successes in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask being forgotten. After his death, the Time Hero's Spirit cannot find its purpose until it encounters Link. This gives the Time Hero a tragic and dark narrative arc. When combined with the more mature tone of Twilight Princess, this trilogy stands out as the best of Zelda experiences.
