Zach Cregger shared exciting details about the prequel project focusing on the striking character Gladys, which is set to release in 2025 alongside the film 'Weapons'. Speaking at the Directors Panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Cregger noted that the script for the sequel to the film in which Amy Madigan won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Aunt Gladys is currently in the writing stage. The project is being developed by New Line Cinema and is working under the title 'Gladys'.

Cregger expressed, “I’m really excited about the Gladys film and I loved working with Amy.” The director emphasized that it made sense not to delve into the character's backstory in 'Weapons', stating, “However, there’s a fantastic story to be told about where Gladys came from and how she became who she is. This story holds many surprises and mysteries, just like 'Weapons'. I think it’s going to be great,” he said.

'Weapons' is a story revolving around a group of children who go missing at midnight, which was released last year by Warner Bros. and grossed $270 million worldwide. The cast includes names like Madigan, Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, and Benedict Wong.

Cregger also showcased the latest trailer and exclusive footage for Sony's video game adaptation of 'Resident Evil', which will be released in September. He added that his next project will be the sci-fi film 'The Flood', which he wrote for New Line.
