The Great American State Fair has been temporarily closed due to extreme heat in Washington, D.C. Before the fair's closure, 11 people were hospitalized; it was reported that seven of these individuals received advanced life support, while four received basic life support. According to NBC News, the D.C. Fire Department and Emergency Services confirmed that they had contacted 44 patients before the fair was closed.

Earlier statements indicated that the 11 hospitalized individuals were treated for various illnesses and injuries. Additionally, the D.C. Fire Department and Emergency Services stated that most of the reported patient contacts were related to "heat-related illnesses and injuries." This situation once again highlighted the importance of healthcare services at the event venue.

The Great American State Fair is part of President Donald Trump's Freedom 250 events. The July 4 celebrations and the Salute to America event were also postponed due to extreme heat conditions. The organization stated, "The safety and health of our guests is our top priority," and announced that they have taken necessary measures to ensure the events continue safely.

Furthermore, a post from the official social media account of Freedom 250 stated, "The safety of our guests, volunteers, artists, vendors, and staff is our highest priority." Cooling resources, water stations, and medical support are being increased at the event venue to ensure guests can safely participate in the celebrations.
