Tracker Wraps Up Its Season

Jul 20, 20262 min read
The Tracker series, after an exciting finale to its third season, offered closure to Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) regarding his father's murder. With the mystery of Ashton Shaw (Lee Tergesen) being resolved and Russell (Jensen Ackles) temporarily leaving the show, it creates a sense that the main storyline of Tracker has reached a conclusion. The mystery we've been curious about since the pilot episode has been unraveled, and now the question remains what Colter Shaw's next move will be.

At the end of the third season finale, it is revealed that Colter has a secret home in the Pacific Northwest that no one knows about. John Keaton (Brent Sexton) helps Colter confront his past by bringing Ashton’s old truck from Echo Ridge. While Colter comes to terms with the truths surrounding his father's death, he is still left unsatisfied. Although he acknowledges that leaving the Chrono Stasis Institute was the right decision, his growing paranoia has cost him dearly. Russell's severing of ties with the government indicates that Tracker needs to change direction.

Since the beginning of the series, the complex relationship between Colter and his father has been a focal point. Sometimes he fondly remembers the survival skills Ashton taught him, while at other times he confronts the challenges of a traumatic childhood. This mystery was a fundamental part of Tracker's formula, and now that this significant element has come to an end, a new narrative component will need to be introduced.

In the fourth season, it's possible to make some predictions about the types of cases Colter Shaw will tackle. It's certain that the Tracker formula will not change, but there will be some noticeable shifts in the CBS series. Transitioning from the northwest atmosphere of Vancouver to sunny Los Angeles, Tracker is moving its production for the fourth season. This change came with the Shaw family selling Echo Ridge, severing the geographical ties of the story.
