It has been revealed that Tommy Lee Jones and Ice Cube will star in the film 'Outside Man', directed and written by Oscar-winning director Brian Helgeland. Jillian Share and Jen Gorton from Teton Ridge Entertainment will serve as producers, while Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz will take on production duties through Cube Vision. Bill Gerber will also be among the producers of the project.

The film centers around Ice Cube, who will play a character that is a former gang member from Chicago. Determined to change his life after being released from prison, the character begins working for Gus Wanamaker (Tommy Lee Jones), a talented furniture craftsman and retired Texas Ranger, while hiding out in the rural areas of Texas. An unexpected friendship develops between Ruben and Gus, putting both men's lives in jeopardy as their pasts begin to catch up with them.

This project marks the second collaboration between Jones and Helgeland. The actor previously starred in Helgeland's film 'Finest Kind'. Their successful partnership raises expectations for the production quality of 'Outside Man'.

According to Deadline, the project garnered strong interest from buyers shortly after being presented in the market this week. The successful production by Teton Ridge Entertainment and Helgeland's Oscar-winning direction have led to serious discussions about distribution even at this early stage of the film. Producer Ben Hurwitz from Cube Vision will also join the project as a consulting producer.
