Tom Hardy's name has been making headlines frequently this year, but the reasons are not what you might think. Although Hardy has played many famous roles in recent years, one of his most beloved performances is as Harry Da Souza in MobLand. In this crime thriller directed by Guy Ritchie and featuring Pierce Brosnan, it was claimed that Hardy was fired due to issues with a producer. However, this information was later denied, and Paramount confirmed that Hardy continued in his role. Hardy is also known for his work in the science fiction genre, particularly for his portrayal of Eddie Brock, Spider-Man's nemesis, in the Venom series.

While some fans point to Eddie Brock as Hardy's most famous sci-fi role, others refer to his character Max Rockatansky in the 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road. Although tensions between Hardy and his Mad Max partner Charlize Theron led them to vow never to work together again, Mad Max: Fury Road is still regarded as one of the greatest sci-fi successes of all time. Its 97% critic score and 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, six Academy Awards, and $380 million box office gross showcase the film's success. Despite the years passing and Mad Max: Fury Road not yet being available on a streaming platform, it has become one of the most-watched VOD productions on Prime Video and Apple TV in many countries.

Whether George Miller will make another Mad Max film remains uncertain. Regarding the long-discussed Mad Max prequel The Wasteland, Miller mentioned that he wants to focus on other projects in 2024. Hardy has also expressed a negative view on the likelihood of this project happening. The potential failure of Furiosa, starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth, at the box office in 2024 seems to have weakened hopes for another Mad Max film. However, the franchise being up for sale could change the direction of future projects.
