“The White Devil” was showcased on the red carpet at the 60th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Renowned cinematographer and three-time Oscar winner Robert Richardson was honored with the Crystal Globe, the festival's highest accolade, for his extraordinary contributions to world cinema. The award was presented by Hollywood legend Harvey Keitel.

With his long white hair and pursuit of cinematic perfection, Richardson, known as the "White Devil," received a warm welcome on stage at the Grand Hall of the Thermal Hotel in Karlovy Vary. In his speech during the award ceremony, he emphasized his love for the art of cinema and the opportunities the festival provides. He expressed hope that smaller films would reach a wider audience around the world at this event, where young people and cinema enthusiasts gathered.

Richardson praised the KVIFF award and Harvey Keitel. He shared that Keitel is a very special person to him, stating, “This is a very special gift from an extraordinarily special man.” He also expressed his respect for Keitel, whom he regards as one of the greatest names in cinema history.

After the award ceremony, Richardson took the stage for the world premiere of the documentary “Robert Richardson: The White Devil,” dedicated to the life and career of Czech director Jana Hojdová. During the event, where the entire team was present on stage, Hojdová gifted him a bracelet. Richardson mentioned that he wears a bracelet at the start of every film project and that he does not take it off until the film is completed.

Finally, Richardson will meet in Karlovy Vary to record a podcast with Scott Feinberg from THR after the festival. KVIFF highlighted that Richardson is one of the most respected cinematographers of the last 40 years and one of the rare individuals who has won the Best Cinematography Oscar three times.
