AMC's "Interview with the Vampire" series has aired two spectacular seasons since its premiere in 2022. However, when the show officially took the name "The Vampire Lestat," it began to offer a very different perspective on past and current events. Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid), during his conversations with Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian), decided to tell his own story to respond to what Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) had said in Dubai. However, some parts of the Brat Prince's story contain details that even Louis is not very familiar with; one of these is the encounter that determines his fate with Queen Akasha (Sheila Atim).
In episode 5, titled "New York," it is revealed that Lestat's immortal existence was forever changed when he was awakened from an 80-year slumber by Marius de Romanus (Christopher Heyerdahl), creator of Armand (Assad Zaman), after Gabriella (Jennifer Ehle). Lestat is tasked with overseeing the first two vampires, referred to as "The Protected Ones." Akasha giving this new responsibility to Lestat suggests, according to Atim's explanations, that the bond established between them through music may have lasting consequences up to the present day.
Sheila Atim shares insights on why Akasha is drawn to Lestat, how her awakening occurs in this episode, and what the creative team discussed the most regarding her character's future. For those curious about the reasons behind Akasha's choice of Lestat, Marius's words, "I don't set the rules. She said, 'Take this man,'" stand out. It seems that during this time when Akasha is left alone after the disappearance of Enkil, she is searching for an equal. In this world where the number of vampires is increasing, the implications of the bond Akasha forms with Lestat remain a topic of intrigue.
