Directed by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian and Grogu held its first press screenings last Thursday evening, and the early reactions on social media seem quite muted. While critics' official comments will remain under wraps until May 19, Disney/Lucasfilm allowed the press to share brief social media reactions following the screenings.

The film marks the first feature-length Star Wars movie released since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker and is an adaptation of Disney+'s hit series The Mandalorian for the big screen. The story is set in the Star Wars universe but focuses more on the timeline and narrative of the series rather than previous films.

Pedro Pascal stars as the main character Din Djarin, accompanied by the adorable animatronic puppet Grogu, who is of the same species as Yoda. The cast also includes names like Jeremy Allen White, Lateef Crowder, and Sigourney Weaver. The story revolves around Din Djarin and his student Grogu being called on a mission by the New Republic and their escape from remnants of the Empire and dangerous bounty hunters while trying to rescue Rotta the Hutt.

As the creator of the Disney+ series, Favreau directs the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor. Among the reactions shared on social media, comments like "The Mandalorian and Grogu: The marketing had me worried, but this film is really a lot of fun" stand out. Viewers indicate that fans of the series will also love this film. Star Wars has returned to the big screen, and #TheMandalorianAndGrogu offers an exciting adventure.
