Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu have achieved significant success at the box office after facing challenges on opening day. The cinematic adaptation of Jon Favreau's Disney+ series was at risk of becoming the lowest opening Star Wars film following Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm as of Friday. However, the film received an audience score of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, marking the highest rating in the series.

The film's audience ratings were particularly strong among younger viewers. The transition of Baby Yoda, or Grogu, from the small screen to the big screen generated immense excitement among audiences. Disney insiders believe that The Mandalorian could be the most family-friendly film in the series in modern times. This is a very encouraging development for Star Wars fans.

On Friday, The Mandalorian and Grogu grossed $33 million in 4,300 theaters, falling short of the $35.4 million opening day gross of Solo: A Star Wars Story, which had the lowest opening in the series. However, with a total budget of $165 million, which is more reasonable compared to Solo's production costs exceeding $275 million, this may provide some relief for Disney and Lucasfilm executives.

The Mandalorian and Grogu still have a chance to surpass Solo's poor opening. This film could open the door to a new era in the Star Wars universe and meet fans' expectations.
