At the 2026 Met Gala, former and current assistants of Miranda Priestly appeared on the red carpet, but the editor-in-chief of Runway magazine was absent from the event. Although iconic actress Meryl Streep did not attend (it is known that she has received invitations many times in the past but has declined each time, stating that the event was "never her style"), the stars of The Devil Wears Prada 2, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, also known as the "Emilys," took the stage in full force. The newly released sequel also featured Simone Ashley as Amari, Miranda's new first assistant.

Hathaway, Blunt, and their longtime friend Stanley Tucci (who played the beloved Nigel character in the original 2006 film) were spotted together on the Met Gala carpet. Tucci attended the event with his wife and Emily's sister, Felicity Blunt. Celebrating the "Costume Art" theme, Hathaway wore a hand-painted black-and-white Michael Kors dress paired with Bvlgari jewelry. When asked by Vogue how she coped with a "stormy" year due to numerous film releases, the Oscar-winning actress expressed that the fatigue was worth it.

Blunt was seen in a black corset top and pants from Ashi Studio, complemented by a half-million-dollar pearl necklace from Mikimoto. Tucci walked the carpet in a custom dark green velvet tuxedo from Etro, paired with a Breitling Premier B01 Chronograph 42 watch. Bridgerton star Simone Ashley, although not part of the original The Devil Wears Prada team, made an impact at both the sequel and the steps of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Ashley dazzled in a Stella McCartney dress adorned with silver chains.

While Streep's absence was felt on Monday night, her family was represented on the Met carpet. Her 39-year-old daughter Grace Gummer looked stunning in a gold metallic gown with a fishtail design by Gabriela Hearst, reminiscent of The Love Story actress.

Twenty years after the original film became a cult classic, The Devil Wears Prada 2 debuted with a strong performance over its opening weekend, grossing over $233 million worldwide. Most of the cast returned for the sequel, and director David Frankel helmed the project again. The film focuses on Andy's reunion with Miranda Priestly and how both adapt their careers in the context of the decline of traditional magazine publishing.
