The Hollywood Reporter
Ted Lasso returns to Apple TV after more than three years since the finale of its third season. As announced by the production company on Tuesday, the fourth season will premiere on August 5, and this time Ted Lasso is back in London to coach the AFC Richmond women's team. Apple has also released a teaser featuring a new visual and the song "Rubber Band Man" performed by Mumford & Sons and Hozier.
The teaser showcases Ted starting his job again in London, the Richmond women playing on the field, and briefly introduces returning and new players. Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift reprise their roles from previous seasons, while Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely join as new series regulars. The teaser also features Andrea Anders as Ted's (now ex?) wife Michelle, Matteo van der Grijn as Rebecca's Dutch love interest Matthijs at the end of season three, and Tracey Ullman in an undisclosed guest role.
Apple TV ordered the fourth season of Ted Lasso for March 2025. This decision ended long-standing speculation about the show's future after the third season wrapped up Ted's story of coaching the Richmond men's team in 2023. In January, Apple announced that the series would return in the summer.
The ten-episode fourth season will see Ted "embark on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a women's soccer team in the second division." According to the official statement, "Throughout the season, Ted and the team will take risks they never thought they would, even if it means stepping out of their comfort zones to succeed."
Jack Burditt, a producer with a comprehensive deal at Apple TV, is directing the fourth season alongside Sudeikis, Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, Bill Wrubel, Goldstein, Leann Bowen, Bill Lawrence, Jeff Ingold, and Liza Katzer. Goldstein and Bowen also serve as writers. Sarah Walker and Phoebe Walsh are producers and writers, Sasha Garron is co-producer, Julia Lindon is a writer, and Dylan Marron is the story editor. The series is produced by Warner Bros. TV and Universal TV.
