Superman's death is set to become a reality in DC's Batman: Knightfall film. According to the information we have so far, this film is progressing in a way that stays true to the comics. The death of superheroes has always been a major event in both comics and films. However, there are very few heroes as impressive as the dramatic list of deaths that Man of Steel possesses.

The death of Superman, considered one of DC's most powerful main characters, is a significant event regardless of the story context. The Death of Superman comic, published in 1992-1993, became a historic event, achieving impressive sales figures and bringing comic books back into the mainstream media's spotlight. In this context, it seems that Superman's death will gain importance once again.

The Batman: Knightfall film is being adapted faithfully from the comic source material. This is clearly evident in the trailer for Part 1, where Tim Drake takes on the role of Robin after Jason Todd's death, and important characters from the expanded Knightfall storyline, especially lesser-known but critical figures like Azrael, are introduced. The film has significant connections indicating that Superman should at least be considered dead throughout the story arc of Man of Steel.

While the Batman: Knightfall trilogy appears to have a self-contained story, there is no reason for this detail to be canonically preserved in film adaptations, especially considering Superman's eventual resurrection. This could perhaps be done as just a transitional line or by referencing the struggles faced by another character. This situation could further strengthen the film's dramatic structure.
