Hazbin Hotel, streaming on Prime Video, is already making strides toward becoming the next big success in adult animation with just two seasons under its belt. The series revolves around a hotel that aims to rehabilitate people trapped in Hell and prevent their annihilation by getting them accepted into Heaven. While talented voice actors like Keith David, Erika Henningsen, and Alex Brightman are part of the production, there's a main character voiced by someone you might not recognize: Stephanie Beatriz, who voices the hotel’s fiery manager, Vaggi.

Beatriz is known for her role as Rosa Diaz in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, where her deep voice stands out, but her real speaking voice is quite cheerful and soft. This proves she has a natural range to portray various animated characters. Since her breakout success in Nine-Nine, Beatriz has become a sought-after name in voice acting, amassing a diverse portfolio that includes adult animations like Big Mouth and Bob's Burgers, as well as fantasy productions like The Legend of Vox Machina and Maya and the Three, along with children's shows like DuckTales and Dogs in Space.

While Hazbin Hotel is the latest addition to Beatriz's increasingly impressive voice acting career, the portrayal of Vaggi seems like a perfect continuation of her work on screen, due to the shared traits with Rosa. Although the two characters come from completely different voices, they have many similarities. Fans of the series may experience disappointment waiting for the release date of Hazbin Hotel's third season, but fortunately, many other productions featuring Beatriz can satisfy Vaggi enthusiasts.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine hosts some of the best sitcom characters of all time, like Raymond Holt, in a sitcom filled with perfectly developed characters. Stephanie Beatriz has been a standout performer throughout all eight seasons, portraying Rosa Diaz as the counter to Andy Samberg's witty yet immature Jake Peralta. Rosa is depicted as a fearsome lone wolf by everyone she works with, but thanks to written scenes that reveal the softer side of this character to everyone who knows Beatriz, she has become beloved.

As the series progresses, the stark difference between Beatriz's speaking voice and the "Rosa voice" is cleverly utilized. This difference becomes more pronounced in scenes where Diaz changes outfits and participates in undercover operations as part of her detective duties. The character's unique way of speaking is also not monotonous or flat. In her fifth season, Diaz becomes sensitive enough to come out as a bisexual icon to her coworkers, and in the final season, she leaves Nine-Nine to become a private detective following real-life police violence.

While Beatriz's iconic performance as Rosa proves her popularity in voice acting, her biggest roles are owed to Brooklyn Nine-Nine. In 2021, she voiced the character Mirabel Madrigal in Disney's Encanto with her natural voice, likely due to her friendship with Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda was a curious fan of Nine-Nine and later chose Beatriz as an actress for the adaptation of In the Heights. Although her voice acting work in Hazbin Hotel may not be as family-friendly as her role as Mirabel Madrigal in Encanto, the diversity of Beatriz's voice acting skills is evident even in the early seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
