SkyShowtime's Swedish original series The Trio (Trion), based on the bestselling young adult novel by Johanna Hedman, is described as a story about "love, sexuality, and passion." The six-episode series stars August Wittgenstein, Felix Sandman, Seth Manteus, and Rebecka Harper, and will premiere on June 1. The first two episodes will be released on that date, followed by two new episodes each week.

Directed by Anders Hazelius and written by Veronica Zacco, The Trio tells the story of Hugo, who is approached by the daughter of his childhood love, taking us back 20 years. The narrative begins when Hugo moves to Stockholm to attend university, focusing on his time with the Stiller family, where he meets the hosts' daughter Thora and her close friend August. This encounter sparks a friendship that will change his life forever, a whirlwind romance, and the moment he realizes that nothing will ever be the same.

Kai Finke, SkyShowtime's Content Director, described The Trio as "a passionate and bold exploration of desire and connection," noting that the series offers a "fresh narrative that is completely different from the other productions we have created and that we are proud to support." Director Hazelius characterized the production as "an intoxicating, passionate, and bittersweet story that depicts the conflict between longing for love and longing for freedom."

In SkyShowtime's official statement, The Trio is presented as a production that "combines an emotional and sophisticated love story intertwined with longing and nostalgia, with a multifaceted reflection on the relentless passage of time," exploring themes of desire and loss through richly developed characters and emotionally intense storytelling.

The Trio is co-produced by SF Studios, SkyShowtime, ZDF, SVT, Film Stockholm, and Night Train Media. The international sales of the production are managed by Eccho Rights. The released first trailer showcases the emotions, intimate moments, and love triangle that will be featured in the series.
