Simone Ashley, who gained global fame as Kate in Bridgerton, is making her mark as Amari, Meryl Streep's new assistant in The Devil Wears Prada 2. The 31-year-old actress admits that working on one of the most beloved sequels has given her the "most fun moments" of her career. Describing the excitement of working alongside Oscar-winning and nominated actors, Ashley notes that her time spent with Meryl Streep, particularly in the role of Miranda Priestly, was a "masterclass" for her.

Although Ashley has reached global recognition through her role in Bridgerton, she is ready to make her character Amari entirely her own in The Devil Wears Prada 2. Emphasizing her desire to go beyond being labeled as the "new Emily," she explains how her character differs from the original Emily portrayed by Emily Blunt. Ashley describes Amari as confident and balanced, acting with a regal and measured demeanor, stating that these traits contribute to the comedic elements and come from a "sassy" and stylish place.

Ashley’s acting journey began at the age of 7 with classical music and piano training. Initially aiming for a music career, she realized while working in musical theater that it was not her priority and shifted her focus to film and television. Sharing her love for the film and television industry from a young age, Ashley has advanced her career by taking on projects like Sex Education and, subsequently, Bridgerton.

Ashley has always felt a deep passion for storytelling, which she says gives her a sense of purpose in life. "To say it in a way that’s not cliché, this was my purpose," she states, explaining how this passion has shaped her life and guided her. The experience of working with legendary actors like Streep presents a significant opportunity for Ashley to showcase her capacity and move beyond the "new Emily" label.
