The Hollywood Reporter
Saturday Night Live UK is gearing up to wrap up its first season with its final episodes. The London version of Lorne Michaels' long-running NBC sketch comedy show kicked off on March 21, hosted by SNL Hall of Fame member Tina Fey, and has made a strong start with a relatively unknown cast of British social media stars and stand-up comedians. The premiere episode, aired on Sky (and on Peacock in the US), was watched by over 220,000 viewers in the UK, featuring musical guest Wet Leg.
In the following weeks, notable directors continued to take the stage. On March 28, Jamie Dornan, star of Fifty Shades of Grey, took over the stage alongside rock band Wolf Alice, followed by Riz Ahmed promoting the Amazon series Bait on April 3, who was a guest with Kasabian. On April 11, British comedian Jack Whitehall shared the stage with Jorja Smith, and on April 25, Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan hosted alongside Foo Fighters as the musical guest.
The season's viewer numbers have seen ups and downs. Following the successful start of the premiere episode, the third episode hosted by Riz Ahmed experienced a 42% drop, with only 130,950 viewers tuning in. The episode hosted by Jack Whitehall also fell to 120,000 viewers, while interest continued to fluctuate as the season progressed.
The final episodes of the season feature some notable names. On May 2, Aimee Lou Wood from The White Lotus will host alongside musical guest Meek, and on May 9, Hannah Waddingham from Ted Lasso will take the stage with Myles Smith. The season finale on May 16 will see Ncuti Gatwa, star of Doctor Who and Sex Education, as the final host alongside musical guest Holly Humberstone.
Throughout the season, the regular cast has included Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young.
