Project Hail Mary has crossed the $300 million mark at the domestic box office and is on track to enter the all-time highest-grossing 100 films list since it was released from the library after its sixth weekend. Starring Ryan Gosling and based on the bestselling novel by Andy Weir, the film was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Project Hail Mary received nearly universal acclaim and achieved blockbuster status in the franchise, surpassing many successful films at the box office. Among the latest films to be displaced in the all-time box office rankings is Daniel Craig's beloved James Bond film Skyfall.

Released in 2012, Skyfall was Craig's third film in the iconic role of the British spy, following Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. Both films grossed approximately $600 million worldwide, and Casino Royale received quite positive reviews. The film also earned Craig a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor. However, the reception for Quantum of Solace, despite being commercially successful, was not as encouraging. The producers took time to develop Skyfall, directed by Sam Mendes. The film explored new avenues in the Bond mythology and surprised audiences with its emotionally striking narrative. It also became the first 007 film to gross over $1 billion worldwide.

Of the $1 billion gross for Skyfall, $304 million came from domestic theaters. Skyfall's lifetime gross was surpassed by Project Hail Mary, which reached a total domestic gross of $306 million. The sci-fi blockbuster's total worldwide gross of approximately $615 million, along with an additional $308 million from international markets, came against a reported budget of over $200 million. The film holds a critic score of 94% "Certified Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes, slightly higher than Skyfall's 92%. Craig returned to play James Bond in two more films - Spectre and No Time to Die. Neither of these films has matched the success of Skyfall. The franchise is set to be rebooted with a new film directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Steven Knight. No actor has yet been cast for the iconic role.
