As Prime Video's action-mystery success story Reacher continues, the spin-off film of the platform's biggest hit from the previous era, the Jack Ryan series, titled Jack Ryan: Ghost War, is set to hit screens this month. Officially announced by Prime Video, the film will be released on May 20 and will take viewers back into the Jack Ryan universe.
Every streaming platform has its flagship production. While Netflix boasts hits like Stranger Things and The Night Agent, Apple TV stands out with Ted Lasso. Prime Video has established a strong action series with Reacher, which has quickly become one of the platform's most important projects, adapted from Lee Child's novels. The character of Reacher, played by Alan Ritchson, has garnered much more acclaim than Tom Cruise's cinematic version, making Ritchson one of the world's top action stars.
It's worth noting that before Reacher, Prime Video had achieved similar success with Jack Ryan. The Jack Ryan series, which began in 2018, is based on Tom Clancy's works and stars John Krasinski in the lead role, completing its four-season journey in 2023. Although delays caused by COVID-19 affected the show's final season, viewers were not ready to completely part ways with the character's story.
In response to this demand, Prime Video decided to initiate a spin-off film project, bringing Krasinski back along with supporting cast members like Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly. Jack Ryan: Ghost War offers a different format from the mentioned films and series, and the trailer shared by the platform a few weeks ago has provided very promising hints for action and mystery enthusiasts.
The continuation of the Jack Ryan universe will arrive with Jack Ryan: Ghost War, which will be exclusively released on Prime Video on May 20. The film is preparing to present a new chapter while maintaining the successful foundation of the series.
