Prime Video's all-female cast action unexpectedly achieved great success among the major headlines in recent weeks. After star-studded productions like The Wrecking Crew, featuring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista, and the sci-fi mystery Mercy, starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson, dominated the platform for several weeks, this female action film surprisingly rose to the top spot. The film Pretty Lethal premiered on Prime Video on March 25 and, according to FlixPatrol data, it remained among the platform's top 10 most-watched films for over 20 days.

Directed by Vicky Jewson, the film presents a selection of five ballerina girls who must defend themselves against a sinister antagonist portrayed by Uma Thurman. Lana Condor, the star of Netflix's To All the Boys series, Iris Apatow, who played a supporting role in the Netflix series Love, Millicent Simmonds from A Quiet Place and its sequel, Maddie Ziegler, who appeared in Sia's music videos, and Avantika, who played a supporting role in the Mean Girls remake, make up the lead cast of the film.

One of the most striking details of the film is the decision to place razor blades between the ballerina characters' toes to use this art form in their battles. These scenes bear similarities to other films made by David Leitch, the assistant director of the original John Wick. The fight sequences are mostly filled with sharp and wild moments that drive the flow of the film.

Pretty Lethal received mixed reviews with a score of 56% on Rotten Tomatoes. In the summary review by the platform, it states, "While the film starts with an entertaining premise, it has become reasonably watchable thanks to its ballet-themed action, despite being diluted by a series of clichés." In Collider's review, Ross Bonaime praised the film's action, writing, "These ballerina girls choose to stick razor blades between their toes and use dance moves to fight off attackers. While many of these fight scenes are challenging and filled with wild moments, they largely carry the film despite a weak narrative."

The film has achieved notable success in presenting an action with a low budget. Its impressive performance among such high-profile productions on the Prime Video platform shows that viewer demand is not always about famous actors. Pretty Lethal has managed to capture the attention of action lovers and those interested in innovative fight choreography.
