Since its first screening in 1987, the Predator series has been one of the most consistent productions in the sci-fi/action thriller genre. Starting with Arnold Schwarzenegger's classic film, this series has seen overlooked entries like Predators and the famous AVP: Alien vs Predator crossovers, with fans never giving up on watching these alien warriors on the big screen. However, there is a production that completely changes the direction of the series, which is Prey, the beginning of director Dan Trachtenberg's Yautja-themed projects. This film offers a unique survival adventure that revitalizes the concept.

Set in the early 1700s during the period of western exploration before the United States, Prey centers around a young Comanche woman named Naru (Amber Midthunder). As Naru aspires to be as skilled a warrior as her brother Taabe (Dakota Beavers), things take a turn for the worse with the approach of French explorers to Comanche lands. With the arrival of a new, savage Yautja (Dane DiLiegro) in the Great Plains, Naru and those around her begin to be hunted and eliminated by this alien warrior. Starting as a historical drama, the film transforms into an action-packed alien thriller as Naru showcases her survival skills.

As is often the case in Predator films, Naru ultimately manages to confront this creature, but this success comes after demonstrating serious survival skills. Additionally, there is a notable direct reference to a firearm seen in the controversial Predator 2 film. Prey not only serves as a prequel but also offers viewers a powerful struggle for survival, bringing a new perspective to the depths of the Predator universe.
