Over Your Dead Body marks Jorma Taccone's first film since returning to the director's chair in 2016, yet he revealed that he had no plans to include any references to producer Lonely Island. Taccone explained that the line "motherfucking, titty-sucking, two-ball bitch" spoken by Juliette Lewis's character Dan (Jason Segel) in the currently screening Over Your Dead Body actually formed a doctrine and is a lyric from the Popstar group's song 'Rock Roll Skate'.

In an interview with SlashFilm, Taccone noted that the line was a product of Juliette's improvisation, stating that he initially didn't realize it was a reference to Popstar. The director added, "When she said that line, I was like, 'Oh my God!' Everyone has their own version in third grade, at least I do, but I was really surprised to hear what she said."

Such surprises are often creative moments that arise from spontaneous instances that can occur on set. Taccone appears to be a director who is quite open to improvisation from his actors, allowing them to add extra layers to the film by staying open to such moments. Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping has remained Lonely Island's legendary musical comedy project since lunchtime.

Over Your Dead Body seems to be filled with unexpected comedic moments, and Taccone's directorial return is being met with interest from audiences. The film's success at the box office may be an indication of how well the producer manages such spontaneous moments.
