Noah Wyle Missed Roles in Oscar-Winning Films
The Hollywood Reporter
Noah Wyle revealed that he missed out on many roles in films due to his busy shooting schedule while serving as the lead and producer on The Pitt series. One of these films includes significant projects like the Oscar-winning "Saving Private Ryan." Recently, during his appearance on the Still Here Hollywood podcast, he responded to the question, "Did I miss out on a big role I wanted?"
Wyle stated, "Yes, a lot. It happens all the time," mentioning that he was offered a role in George Clooney's directed film "Good Night, and Good Luck," but couldn't accept it due to his commitment to ER. He also expressed that he was offered the role of Private Ryan in "Saving Private Ryan" but couldn't seize that opportunity for the same reason.
Wyle starred in the ER series, which ran for 11 seasons from 1994 to 2005, and later returned for a few episodes in the 12th and 15th seasons. "Saving Private Ryan" was released in 1998 and won five Academy Awards. "Good Night, and Good Luck" premiered in 2005 and received six Oscar nominations.
Looking back at his past projects, Wyle mentioned that he wasn't too upset about missing these roles because the actors who took them on delivered fantastic performances. "I'm almost happy I didn't do them because there were actors who truly deserved those roles," he said. Currently, Wyle portrays Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in The Pitt series, which achieved great success by winning five Emmy awards in its first season.
