Summer vacation is in full swing in the United States, and in some parts of the world, school children are enjoying a break. This means families finally have time to watch movies together. Therefore, it's no surprise that one of the biggest family-friendly fantasy films of the 2000s is experiencing a resurgence in popularity on streaming platforms.

The 2000s offered a wide range of family-friendly films in both animation and live-action genres. This era saw the launch of the Harry Potter film series and the first film to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, Shrek. It also witnessed the rise of superhero films before the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Nearly 20 years later, one of the best family films from this period is finding a new audience just as it did when it first hit theaters.

Night at the Museum is a film from 2006 featuring Ben Stiller as Larry Daley. Working as a night guard at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, Larry must ensure that no one enters the museum while also dealing with the fact that the exhibits come to life after sunset. Recently, Night at the Museum climbed to 8th place on Netflix's global top 10 movies list. Since its release, the film has grossed over $574 million worldwide, making it the 5th highest-grossing film of 2006.

The film was expanded with two sequels, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian in 2009 and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb in 2014. Additionally, it further expanded its universe with the animated spin-off Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again, released on Disney+ in 2022. This renewed popularity offers a nostalgic experience for both old fans and new viewers.
