Elin Hilderbrand is a name to watch this summer. The Five-Star Weekend, one of the bestselling author's 30 novels set in Nantucket, is gearing up for a star-studded adaptation that will premiere on Peacock on July 9, 2026. Jennifer Garner stars as Hollis Shaw, an internet-famous chef and widow, who invites four friends from different periods of her life to her Nantucket vacation home for a "five-star weekend." Naturally, as old secrets and rivalries come to light, Hollis begins to reconnect with her high school sweetheart Jack (Timothy Olyphant), leading to the possibility of a romance.

In addition to Garner and Olyphant, the cast of The Five-Star Weekend features stars like Chloë Sevigny, Regina Hall, Gemma Chan, D'Arcy Carden, and Judy Greer, Garner's co-star from 13 Going on 30. Peacock recently released the first trailer for The Five-Star Weekend, and if the trailer is any indication, viewers should mark their calendars for this bright new series.

However, The Five-Star Weekend is not the first of its kind. Two years ago, Netflix released another Hilderbrand adaptation, The Perfect Couple, which boasts one of the best ensemble casts in television history. While The Five-Star Weekend is marketed as a serious drama, The Perfect Couple is a soap opera-style murder mystery involving a wealthy Nantucket family. Nicole Kidman stars in The Perfect Couple as Greer Winbury, a successful author who disapproves of her son's fiancée and doesn't want him to marry her. Although the series didn't receive rave reviews from critics, it particularly rewards rewatching as a self-aware and comedic production.

Despite not scoring high with critics, Netflix's 2024 production The Perfect Couple achieved great success in terms of viewer numbers, remaining in the top 10 of the platform's most-watched English series list for six weeks. While The Five-Star Weekend will be on Peacock, the success of Netflix's Hilderbrand adaptation likely helped pave the way for the new series.

If The Five-Star Weekend follows in the footsteps of The Perfect Couple's success, it will undoubtedly lead to more Hilderbrand adaptations. Given how prolific the author is, this could mean a plethora of beach dramas, making The Perfect Couple even more iconic as the first in the series. If watching The Perfect Couple feels like joining a glamorous beach party from the comfort of your own living room, I highly recommend watching both series this summer; there will likely be much more to come.
