Netflix has brought together Mystery Incorporated for its new live-action Scooby-Doo series. Officially announced under the title "Scooby-Doo: Origins," the series is currently in production in Atlanta, Georgia. While Netflix released the first photo of the cast, it also revealed new details about the reboot's story and the design of the beloved Scooby-Doo character.

In the released image, the characters are seen gathered around a large wooden door. Maxwell Jenkins (Reacher) plays Fred Jones, McKenna Grace (Scream 7) plays Daphne Blake, Abby Ryder Fortson (Ant-Man) plays Velma Dinkley, and Tanner Hagen (The Pitt) plays Shaggy Rogers. Although Scooby-Doo is not visible in the photo, there is a large paw print on the door. Paul Walter Hauser (The Naked Gun) is also not shown in the photo, and his role in the series has not yet been disclosed. The series tells the story of the group's first gathering. Old friends Shaggy and Daphne get involved in the mysteries surrounding a Great Dane puppy that could be the only witness to a covered-up murder during their last summer spent at camp. The quirky townsfolk Velma and the strange newcomers join Fred in a determined effort to solve it.

Scooby-Doo's original history dates back to 1969. In response to protests from parent groups over cartoon violence, producers Ken Ruby and Joe Spears created the "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!" series for Hanna-Barbera. The show followed four young people traveling from town to town in their van, the Mystery Machine, solving seemingly supernatural mysteries, which often ended up being a malicious adult in a monster costume. The series became a huge success and spawned numerous sequels, spin-offs, and reboots. In the 2000s, the franchise made its way to theaters with two live-action films: "Scooby-Doo" and "Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed." Both films were directed by Raja Gosnell (Never Been Kissed) and written by James Gunn (Superman). Scooby-Doo: Origins will be the first live-action Scooby-Doo series.

Scooby-Doo: Origins will be written, directed, and produced by experienced Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, known for productions like High Fidelity, Citadel, and Everything Sucks! Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman will serve as executive producers for Berlanti Productions, while André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Adrienne Erickson will do so for Midnight Radio. Toby Haynes, director of the Andor series, will direct the pilot episode and serve as an executive producer.

The series is currently in production, and a release date has not yet been announced.
