The finale of Season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has been released, and the last episode of the Apple TV sci-fi series successfully wraps up the storylines while also hinting that more is to come from the Monsterverse franchise. The most surprising moment occurs at the end of the episode: Lee Shaw, played by Kurt Russell, discovers another Titan in Thailand and shows a drawing of a Titan when he meets an old acquaintance. The acquaintance mentions that Kentaro and Isabel have been asking questions about the same Titan. They believe this Titan could be the key to what both of them desire.

Isabel, the daughter of Walter Simmons and a representative of Apex, wants to control Axis Mundi so she can use it for time travel and profit from it. The reason Kentaro helps Isabel is to bring his father back to life. In the flashbacks shown throughout the season, Hiroshi tells his son that he entered Axis Mundi and disappeared through a rift. There is a version of Hiroshi within Axis Mundi, and this version can be saved.

As the situations involving Lee, Isabel, and Titan X escalate in the finale, the emergence of Rodan is not unexpected. In the finale, Lee begins to walk with his friend in Thailand and sees a massive Titan standing by a volcano: Rodan. Lee Shaw, who mentions that he will soon see this fire-breathing kaiju, is unaware that he is facing a couple willing to take the risk of the world burning to ashes.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters takes place two years before Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Rodan first appeared in the 2019 film Godzilla: King of the Monsters, where he was one of the kaiju fighting under the control of King Ghidorah. After Ghidorah's death, Rodan, freed from control, bowed to Godzilla as the true alpha of the Monsterverse. Just like in the Monarch Season 2 episode, Rodan first appeared lying by a volcano in the film.

In the finale, the core part of the season's time travel storyline is wrapped up. If the old and young versions of Lee Shaw can interact via radio under specific conditions, the young Lee, played by Wyatt Russell, physically returns in the final episode. Keiko realizes that Lee is in Axis Mundi and that she can save him, but ultimately accepts this decision with understanding. Wyatt Russell will star as young Lee Shaw in the Monarch: Legacy of Monsters spin-off set in the 1980s, focusing on the Cold War.
