Minions & Monsters: Set to Create Chaos in Hollywood
Collider
Minions & Monsters, the new film from Illumination Studios, is preparing to take Hollywood by storm. As the seventh installment in the Megaverse, this film marks the third standalone adventure of the beloved yellow creatures, who this time face off against a series of monsters in Tinseltown. The film premiered at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, and Collider's Steve Weintraub sat down with returning writer-director and the voice of the Minions, Pierre Coffin, along with Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri, to discuss behind-the-scenes details and elements that might be overlooked.
Directed by Patrick Delage and written by Brian Lynch, Minions & Monsters takes viewers back to Hollywood's Golden Age. In the film, one of the Minions expresses a desire to make a monster movie. However, unaware that they need to summon real monsters, the Minions do not foresee that these creatures will turn against them and create chaos in the world. Our cute but misguided helpers must put an end to the chaos they have created. The film also features famous voice actors such as Trey Parker, Allison Janney, Jeff Bridges, Zoey Deutch, Christoph Waltz, Jesse Eisenberg, and George Lucas.
Coffin and Meledandri discuss many Easter eggs and references in Hollywood, as well as scenes that did not make it into the film or were cut due to time constraints. Coffin shares the significant responsibilities that come with returning to the Megaverse and how Minions & Monsters pulled him back into this world. They also provide insights into deleted jokes and the most controversial moments in the film. This film seems poised to be filled with moments that will both entertain and provoke thought for viewers.
