Martin Short, not only one of Canada's but also one of North America's most significant comedic actors and Hollywood stars, is set to be honored with Netflix's new documentary "Marty, Life is Short." Directed by Lawrence Kasdan, the documentary is a project that crowns Kasdan's successful career as the director of The Big Chill, Wyatt Earp, and Body Heat. In addition to being an experienced director with four Oscar nominations, Kasdan is also the father of Jake Kasdan, the director of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.

The documentary is produced under the direction of Lawrence Kasdan, alongside producers Sara Bernstein, Meredith Kaulfers, Christopher St. John, Justin Wilkes, and Blair Foster. Renowned producers Brian Grazer and Ron Howard have taken on the role of executive producers through Imagine Documentaries, a branch of Imagine Entertainment.

The documentary features never-before-seen archival footage and interviews with some of the most successful names in Short's career. The trailer, which opens with the voice of Steve Martin, successfully portrays Martin Short's personality. Steve Martin, the star of "Only Murders in the Building," says about Short: "Let me tell you something about Marty. Let’s say you’re having a dinner party and you invite Marty. Then Marty says he can’t make it — you cancel the party."

Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, and Tom Hanks also appear in the documentary, while comedian John Mulaney sums up Martin Short perfectly: "Marty is very successful in life." The 76-year-old Short has faced many personal tragedies throughout his life. He lost his oldest brother when he was 12, and then lost his parents in consecutive years. His wife Nancy Dolman passed away in 2010 at the age of 58, and his daughter Katherine recently took her own life at the age of 42.

"Marty, Life is Short" is set to premiere globally on Netflix on May 12, ready to present Martin Short's heartfelt and impactful life story to viewers.
