HBO Max has announced that the adaptation of Wuthering Heights, starring Margot Robbie, will be available on the platform starting May 1. Directed by Emerald Fennell, this romantic drama will also have its cinematic premiere on HBO on May 2. On the same day, the American Sign Language version will exclusively be available on HBO Max. Jacob Elordi stars opposite Robbie in the film.

Based on Emily Brontë's classic novel of the same name, the film was released in theaters by Warner Bros. on February 13 and has surpassed $240 million at the global box office. The project, directed by writer Emerald Fennell from her own screenplay, also features Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes, and Ewan Mitchell.

Robbie takes on the role of Catherine Earnshaw, while Elordi portrays Heathcliff. The original novel, published in 1847, centers on the passionate and revenge-filled relationship between the two characters. The story unfolds after they encounter each other while living in the same estate.

David Rooney, a film critic for The Hollywood Reporter, described Wuthering Heights in his review as "undoubtedly the most purely entertaining work of the director-writer" and noted that it is "filled with striking colors and magnificent designs, adorned with anachronistic glitz, sexy, perverse, and serious."

Rooney remarked, "The film, which swings between silly and clever, is a Wuthering Heights for the Bridgerton generation." The director emphasized that the film's observations will soak and ignite young hearts.

Among Robbie's recent projects is acting alongside Colin Farrell in Sony's 2025 film "A Big Bold Beautiful Journey." Elordi is currently starring in the third season of HBO's hit series Euphoria and will be seen in theaters later this year in Ridley Scott's film "The Dog Stars."
