Lewis Pullman made a significant leap in his career with the release of Top Gun: Maverick in 2022. As one of the emerging talents, Pullman not only starred in hit Apple TV series but also joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will appear alongside his father Bill Pullman in the highly anticipated Spaceballs sequel. Most recently, he had the opportunity to work with two-time Oscar winner Sally Field in Netflix’s upcoming drama film Remarkably Bright Creatures.
Remarkably Bright Creatures is an adaptation of Shelby Van Pelt’s debut novel, which made it to the New York Times bestseller list. The film explores the unexpected bond between Tova (Field), a widow living a solitary life who works at a local aquarium, and Cameron (Pullman), a young man searching for his father. Together, they will rediscover their awe for the world by solving a mystery with Marcellus, the aquarium's giant Pacific octopus (Alfred Molina). The film is directed by Olivia Newman, featuring a cast that includes Colm Meaney, Joan Chen, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Kathy Baker, and Beth Grant.
In an interview with Collider, Pullman shared memories about his career. He discussed various topics, from his experience in Top Gun: Maverick to how he helped his father navigate the industry. He also provided new details about projects like Spaceballs: The New One and Avengers: Doomsday. Pullman mentioned that the flight training in Top Gun was quite intimidating for him and expressed the anxieties he faced during that process.
Pullman noted that his role in Bad Times at the El Royale was particularly challenging for him. He expressed his love for the script and his desire to be part of such a project. He emphasized that he learned a lot from experienced figures like Drew Goddard and Jeff Bridges during this process. He also added that projects like these offer a significant learning opportunity for young actors.
