Latin America Prefers Turkish Productions! The series Far Away has started airing in Colombia
A Turkish series has taken the place of another Turkish series on Colombian television. Caracol TV completed the airing of Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman Ki, which it had been broadcasting in the daytime slot for about a year, on July 28; the very next day, it transferred the same time slot to Far Away.
On July 29, the series, which started under the name Ciudad Lejana, had its first two episodes made available to viewers on the channel's digital platform. This change serves as a new example showing that the presence of Turkish series in Latin America has transformed from singular sales into a regular broadcasting policy.
Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman Ki said goodbye with its 222nd episode
Caracol TV began airing Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman Ki under the name Tormenta de Pasiones starting August 4, 2025. The story of the Akarsu family was broadcasted every weekday for about a year with a restructured episode format tailored for Colombia.

The channel concluded the series on July 28 with its 222nd episode. Following the last episode that depicted the wedding of Bahar and Soner, there was no gap in programming; Ciudad Lejana immediately appeared before the same audience the next day. Caracol also clearly introduced the new series as the production that would replace Tormenta de Pasiones in its transition announcement.
This choice is interpreted as a move to continue the Turkish melodrama that Colombian viewers are accustomed to, without interruption, with a more contemporary production that resonates strongly in Turkey.
The content chain has extended from Lebanon to Colombia
The distinguishing factor that separates Far Away's international journey from a typical Turkish series export lies in the origin of its story.
The series, produced by Ay Yapım, is adapted from Al Hayba, created by Lebanon's Cedars Art Production, which reached a wide audience in the Middle East. In the Turkish version, the story was relocated to Mardin; characters, family structures, and dramatic conflicts were restructured for the local audience.
Now, this adaptation is being sold to Colombia under the name Ciudad Lejana. Thus, a Lebanese intellectual property has turned into an independent series brand that is reproduced in Turkey and introduced to the international market. The chain progresses as Lebanese format → Turkish adaptation → Latin American broadcast.
This model also demonstrates that Turkey is not just a market exporting its own original stories; it has become a production center capable of localizing formats from other countries and reselling them to the world.

Caracol's daytime slot is dedicated to Turkish series
Ciudad Lejana is not the only Turkish production on Caracol TV screens. The channel's weekday daytime program also features Efé and El Juego de mi Destino.
The positioning of three Turkish series back-to-back in Caracol's current broadcast schedule indicates that the channel does not view these productions as a temporary experiment. Turkish series now create a separate content block with a ready audience for the Colombian channel, ensuring continuity.
The fact that an older production like Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman Ki, which started in 2010, can turn into a 222-episode broadcast marathon in Colombia in 2026 also shows that the lifespan of catalog series is not limited to their finale dates in Turkey.
Far Away's international route is expanding
The global distribution of the series is managed by MADD Entertainment under the name Far Away. The company's international sales network has previously brought Far Away to markets such as Israel, the Middle East and North Africa, Romania, Russia, and the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as Spain.
The arrival of the production, which is aired in Spain as En tierra lejana on Antena 3, to Colombia has broadened the series' reach in Spanish-speaking markets.
With high viewership ratings in Turkey, Far Away will now take over the audience of another previously successful Turkish series in Colombia. The real test will be whether it can carry over the daytime audience that Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman Ki maintained throughout its 222 episodes to the new story.
