Özge Törer, the Bala Hatun of Kuruluş Osman, is preparing to become the prosecutor of Karakuyu
Özge Törer’s new project is taking shape after Kuruluş Osman. The actress is reportedly in the signing phase for the role of Prosecutor Ferda in Kanal D’s new season series Karakuyu.
Since the contract has not yet been finalized, it cannot be said for certain that Törer has officially joined the cast. However, if negotiations conclude successfully, the actress will take on her first major television lead role after portraying Bala Hatun for six seasons from 2019 to 2025.
A prosecutor returning to her hometown after years
Karakuyu will begin with Prosecutor Ferda returning to her hometown after building a new life away from her past.
Ferda will step back into the place she left behind years ago due to her brother Harun, having fled from an honor killing. The series will weave the character’s encounters with her family and the past she tries to hide into a law-centered narrative. The project was initially code-named Fikriye, but later decided to be called Karakuyu.
The script is written by Deniz Akçay, who has previously worked on productions like İstanbullu Gelin and Kırmızı Oda. Nezaket Coşkun will be in the director's chair. OGM Pictures is producing the series, which will air on Kanal D.
From Bala Hatun to Prosecutor Ferda
For Törer, this project signifies a distinct role change. The actress portrayed the historical figure Bala Hatun for six seasons in Kuruluş Osman and spent a significant part of her career in the world of period dramas.
Karakuyu, however, completely diverges from this costume, period, and action-heavy line. Törer will return to the screen as a contemporary prosecutor character caught between her profession and her past.
As she departed from Kuruluş Osman, the actress bid farewell to Bala Hatun after six seasons, describing the character as her career's “first love.”
The Divriği plan may shift to Tokat
There is also a change on the agenda regarding the filming location of the production.
Initially, Kayseri was considered for Karakuyu, but later the Divriği district of Sivas came to the forefront. In the latest preparations, due to potential production challenges related to access to Divriği, the option of moving the shoot to Tokat is being evaluated.
The final shooting location has not yet been announced. The series' start date and when it will begin airing on Kanal D are also still unknown.
The first step ahead is to finalize the discussions with Özge Törer. If the contracts are signed, Karakuyu will be the project that marks the actress's return to the screen after Bala Hatun and signifies a notable genre shift in her career.
