Judy Greer shared a memory of her co-star Matthew McConaughey helping her on the set of The Wedding Planner. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress recounted how she accidentally left her car with the valet at a luxury hotel in New York for a table read of the 2001 romantic comedy, but couldn't find the money to retrieve it. Greer played the role of Penny, the best friend of Jennifer Lopez's character in the film.

"I gave my car to the valet; I didn't know any better," Greer explained. "I was so broke that I didn't have enough money to get my car back. When I called my friend Sean Gunn from the payphone in the lobby of the Roosevelt Hotel, Matthew McConaughey overheard me and gave me 20 dollars. I was so embarrassed but at the same time: my hero."

In The Wedding Planner, directed by Adam Shankman, Lopez plays Mary Fiore, San Francisco's most successful wedding planner. After organizing the biggest wedding of her career, Mary realizes she has fallen for the groom, Steve Edison (McConaughey), and must decide whether to take him to her daughter or ultimately not become a bride herself.

Recalling her experience during the filming of The Wedding Planner, Greer said, "I remember how charming Matthew McConaughey was. Seeing him every morning with the makeup artist and costume made me happy because he had his pajamas on and Yerba mate tea. I haven't worked with him since then, but my gut tells me not much has changed."

After the film's box office success, Greer began taking roles in other romantic comedies like 13 Going on 30 and 27 Dresses. The actress has often expressed that this period of her career opened many doors for her and established her place in Hollywood.
