John Leguizamo and Matt Damon cross paths this time in a Daniels film!
John Leguizamo's next stop could be the long-secret Universal project from the Daniels duo. According to Deadline, the actor has started talks to join the film written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.

Leguizamo's deal has not yet been signed, and the character he will portray is unknown. If he joins, the announced cast will reach six names, including Matt Damon, Sandra Oh, Charles Melton, Michael Gandolfini, and Sean Kaufman.
The Odyssey partnership may continue
The potential deal would reunite Leguizamo and Matt Damon for the second time in a film shortly. The duo portrays Eumaeus and Odysseus, respectively, in Christopher Nolan's theatrical adaptation of The Odyssey.
With Leguizamo starting talks for the Daniels project, the partnership established in The Odyssey could continue in a completely different genre and narrative style. However, it is still unknown whether their characters will intersect in the new film.

Lead role passed from Ryan Gosling to Matt Damon
The lead role was initially intended for Ryan Gosling. Gosling left the film due to scheduling conflicts with other projects; the directors' new choice was Matt Damon.
It has been reported that due to the tax incentives the production will use in Los Angeles, it is not possible to change the shooting dates, which influenced Gosling's departure. Filming is expected to begin in the later months of 2026.
The cast has been announced, but the story remains under wraps
Sandra Oh, Charles Melton, Michael Gandolfini, and Sean Kaufman are known to be part of the project. However, the film's plot, characters, and even its title have not been disclosed.
Being the first feature film directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert after Everything Everywhere All at Once, Universal's positioning of the project as an “event film” on its calendar, and the growing cast suggest that the studio is preparing a large-scale production. The Daniels duo will bring the film to life through the Playgrounds company alongside producer Jonathan Wang.

Confusing description from Matt Damon
The most concrete clue about the film's content came from Matt Damon. Damon described the idea presented to him as a mix of The Breakfast Club, Inception, an anime film, and an unreleased John Oliver episode.
The actor also mentioned that fans of the craziness and emotional side of Everything Everywhere All at Once would enjoy the new film as well. The description does not reveal the story but suggests that Daniels will continue their line of blending absurd ideas with emotional storytelling across genres.
Daniels' new film will hit theaters in November 2027
Universal Pictures will release the yet-to-be-titled film in theaters on November 19, 2027. If Leguizamo's talks yield positive results, he will reunite with Matt Damon in Daniels' first film after their Oscar victory.
