Collider
John Krasinski has officially announced the start date for filming the third installment of the nearly $1 billion A Quiet Place franchise. Krasinski revealed that filming for A Quiet Place Part III, in which he will return as producer and screenwriter, will begin this spring, specifically stating it will start "a week from today." He made this announcement during an interview with Collider, expressing that the excitement and stress levels regarding the film's technical details are high.
The return of the Abbott family and the characters following them had been confirmed in previous months. Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe will reprise their roles as the Abbott family, while Cillian Murphy returns as Emmett. New additions to the cast include Jack O'Connell, Katy O'Brien, and Jason Clarke. In addition to writing the screenplay, Krasinski will also take the director's chair, making this process particularly exciting.
Krasinski continues to be involved in Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War film in parallel with this project. The director stated that the Jack Ryan project keeps him busy, allowing him to navigate the tense period before filming A Quiet Place 3 more comfortably. The simultaneous progress of these two major projects enables Krasinski to channel his creative energy into different areas.
The story of A Quiet Place Part III has been kept tightly under wraps since the beginning, and even actress Simmonds was unaware of what would happen in the next installment. In A Quiet Place: Part II, the Abbott family had sparked a glimmer of hope for humanity by broadcasting a high-frequency radio signal that incapacitated the aliens using Reagan's (Simmonds) hearing aid. However, the struggle for survival is far from over. Krasinski has mentioned that this third film will be the final part of the planned trilogy and discussed the challenges of naturally concluding the Abbott family's story.
Krasinski noted that throughout the long development process, he worked to resolve the family's predicament organically and feels he has successfully accomplished that. "I’m really excited to have the opportunity to close my story," he added. "This has always been envisioned as a trilogy in my mind. I wanted to solve it organically, and I think we did that successfully." These statements spark curiosity about the story of the final chapter, which fans are eagerly anticipating, while also showcasing how defining Krasinski's vision has been.
