Coyote vs. Acme, which was pulled from libraries three years ago, is finally making its way to theaters. The film's first trailer has been released, telling the story of Coyote's long battle for justice in court. Produced by Ketchup Entertainment, the film will hit theaters on August 28.
In the trailer, Wile E. Coyote once again fails to catch Road Runner due to a faulty product from Acme Corporation. After seeing an advertisement for lawyer Kevin Avery (Will Forte), who has won numerous class-action lawsuits against Acme, Coyote decides to take his case to court beyond the endless deserts. Here, Avery represents him against the sharp Acme representative Buddy Crane (John Cena). Although Avery typically makes very low deals with Acme, his niece Paige (Lana Condor) convinces him not to aim for a significant impact this time.
Coyote won't be the only animated character brought to court. The trailer hints at appearances from Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Foghorn Leghorn, and many more. Bugs Bunny eventually appears as a Deep Throat-like informant. Will his help change the outcome of the trial? What dark secrets does Acme Corporation hold? And will Coyote finally catch Road Runner? You'll need to go to the movies this summer to find out the answers.
The film's backstory is also intriguing. As part of Warner Bros.' cost-cutting wave, the nearly completed Coyote vs. Acme was shelved. This decision sparked significant protests among those involved in the film and its viewers. Unlike films like Batgirl that were scrapped for tax write-off purposes, WB decided to put Coyote vs. Acme up for sale, and it finally found a chance for a wide release after being acquired by Ketchup Entertainment.
